Deskripsi:

This course explores the working of power in the production, distribution and consumption of cultural
texts, in their broader definition to include literature, new media, films, speeches, songs, games,
conventional media etc. Situating these texts as products which are culturally and historically specific,
the course guides students to critically question how these texts and the cultural representations born
in them, such as of gender, class, race etc, are able to be produced, distributed, and consumed (in
particular ways) in a particular cultural and historical context. With such critical skills, students are
expected to offer alternative insights to certain socio-cultural issues and political economy of an era in a
particular cultural context, as well as to conduct research on socio-cultural phenomena.
