Matakuliah ini dimaksudkan untuk membekali mahasiswa untuk menguasai konsep-konse esensial Fisika modern, khususnya tentang materi berikut. Theory of Special Relativity: 1. Consequences of special relativity: length contraction, time dilation, the twins paradox, 6. Theory of special relativity and electrodynamics, 7. Formulation of covariant. General Relativity: 1. Gravity is a warping of space time, 2. Theory of general relativity, 3. Tests of general relativity. The Particle-like Properties of Electromagnetic Radiation: 1. Electromagnetic waves, 2. Blackbody radiation, 3. Photoelectric effect, 4. Quantum theory of light, 5. What is light?, 6. X-rays, 7. X-ray diffraction, 8. Compton effect, 9. Bremsstrahlung and pair production. Wave Properties of Particles: 1. De Broglie’s hypothesis and de Broglie wavelength, 2. Wave and wave equation, 3. The Davisson–Germer experiment: Particle diffraction, 4. Uncertainty relationships for classical waves, 5. Heisenberg uncertainty, 6. Wave packets (phase velocity and group), 7. Probability and randomness. Schrödinger Equation: 1. Wave equation, 2. Schrödinger equation, 3. Schrödinger equation: steady-state form, 4. Particle in a box, 5. Superposition, 6. Expectation values, 7. Operators, 8. Step and barrier potential, 9. Tunneling effect, 10. Simple harmonic oscillator. Atomic Structure: 1. Basic properties of atoms, 2. Line spectra, 3. Bohr model, 4. Franck-Hertz experiment, 5. Correspondence principle. Hydrogen Atom: 1.
