Kegiatan perkuliahan difokuskan pada membelajarkan mahasiswa melakukan pemetaan hasil-hasil penelitian pendidikan IPA terkini dan menganalisis tren masalah dan jenis penelitian, melakukan telaah kritis terhadap referensi untuk mengembangkan kerang teoritik pemecahan masalah penelitian, mengkaji metode-metode penelitian pendidikan yang relevan, teknik mengelola penelitian, dan teknik menulis proposal, laporan penelitian, dan artikel secara ilmiah (bebas plagiasi)

Capaian Pembelajaran
- Membahas pengertian, tujuan, lingkup penelitian dalam bidang pendidikan IPA (penelitian kuanititatif, penelitian kualitatif, penelitian dan pengembangan/research and development, dan mix methode).
- Mengkaji secara kritis artikel hasil berbagai jenis penelitian dalam bidang pendidikan IPA (potensi masalah, populasi/responden/subyek yang diperlukan, rancangan penelitian, jenis data, instrumen dan pengembangan, analisis data, serta hasil penelitian/kesimpulan).
- Memanfaatkan beberapa hasil penelitian pendidikan IPA yang relevan untuk menyusun tesis atau penelitian yang lain
