This course explores how gender construction and ideology and issues are represented and constructed and made bias consciously or unconsciously in literary works and/or cultural texts (media and The discussion covers the origin of gender (as social system), problem of sexual identities, and the construction of gender stereotype. The critical skill acquired through the studies will enable students to conduct research related to gender issues and offer alternative solution related to the issues of gender in the society within academic and professional sphere.
Capaian Pembelajaran
  • produce sound analyses on particular discourses or ideologies represented in films;
  • critically explore the workings of power in the production, representation and distribution of literary texts;
  • develop quality discussion and argumentative essays which have clear structure, justifiable significance, and objectives;
  • appreciate the design, conduct and reporting of original research;
  • communicate the discussion essay (group work) and essay plan through classroom-level seminar
  • evaluate the quality of the developed essay plans by giving constructive comments and feedback to fellow students in the classroom-level seminar.
  • have a general understanding of the concept of gender studies and its contemporary academic debates;
