This course aims to equip students with the basic knowledge of the historical development of English in order to have a proper balance between what may be called internal history—sounds and inflections—and external history—the political, social and intellectual forces that have determined the course of the development at different periods.

Capaian Pembelajaran
- know and comprehend the information and data of the history and the development of English language that cover the topics of not only English spelling, sounds and grammar but also diachronic analysis of English language
- explore the aforementioned topics by searching more sources and evidences on the development of English language from time to time
- explain the aforementioned topics through group presentation and classroom discussion
