This course is designed to enable the students to clearly see the broad divide of linguistic approaches—context-free and context-bound—and the implications of the two approaches for linguistic research methodology: the selection of research design, data collection or evidentiality, data analysis, and conclusion. This course also prepares each student to write an undergraduate thesis proposal for further steps of thesis writing supervisory consultations.
