The course is designed to develop students’ ability to speak English from post-intermediate level to pre-advanced level in social and academic contexts. It provides modelling and opportunities for guided and independent practices in using expressions of likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements and preferences, giving opinions in group discussions, delivering speeches and reporting news, as well as presenting current issues and engaging in panel discussions and debates. It is also designed to enhance students’ ability in giving presentations such as retelling articles.
